Pre-amplifier Test Set-up

Fig 2: Pre-amplifier Test Set-up

The test jig is designed to approximate a capacitive source to the pre-amplifier, while presenting a 50Ω load to the network analyzer. Its transfer ratio is -17.1dB. Note: The jig is fragile!

The pre-amplifier is tested using an HP8753D network analyzer. The NA is set to +10dBm output power, log sweep, stop at 6GHz, reference level -20dB, scale 3dB/division, reference position at 8 divisions. The amplifier has a flat response (well, almost: Within 1dB) out to 800MHz. The low cut-off frequency is about 20kHz in this set-up.
