PS Transverse Feedback Pick-up Amplifier |
The amplifier electronics shape the electrode
signals to get a flat response from
about 20kHz to 40MHz. The electrode signals are combined in an
active hybrid circuit
to yield a horizontal
difference (X), a vertical difference (Y) and an overall sum signal Σ.
Variable gain amplifiers and
passive attenuators adjust the amplitude
of the sum to about 1Vp and the displacement sensitivity to 40mm.
A real-time program running on DSC dcpspuct in CB sends the
appropriate gain values to the amplifiers just prior to beam injection.
This is done via a
serial
data link, the same as is used for all other PUs in the ring.
Gain settings can be adjusted from an
application program
accessible from
the 'Tests' menu of the CPS Console Manager. (Look for entry 'TFB PU Ctrl'.)
