PS Transverse Feedback Pick-up Amplifier

Hybrid combiner

The hybrids are based on a design using Analog Devices AD8129 differential amplifiers. A similar design has been used succesfully for the position PUs in CTF3. The added gain is 22dB. Note that the S signal is inverted. This is because using the inverting configuration for the summing amplifier provides better isolation between the four input signals. Besides the limitations that active electronics in front of the hybrids entails, the use of active hybrids limits the CMRR to a modest 50dB.
